A Unitrust from the DeLeos
"In our rapidly changing world, it is important that people understand and appreciate our history. Historic sites provide an educational and entertaining link to the past, and the Society's historic sites program is one of the best in the nation. We created our endowed fund to assist the Society in helping future generations discover Minnesota's history through these special places. I hope that others will join us in this effort."
Richard DeLeo has been a champion of the Society's Historic Sites program for over three decades. Dick and his wife Shirley, who passed away in 2003, joined the Society in 1973 and have visited all of the Society's historic sites many times. Since 1993 they have made annual gifts to support a variety of programs and special projects at the Society's historic sites. In 1996 they established the Richard and Shirley DeLeo Fund for Historic Sites - an endowed fund that will provide support in perpetuity. They have built their fund through annual gifts and have established a charitable remainder unitrust that will provide additional future funding.
